FINCANTIERI S.P.A. AND NANTO PROTECTIVE COATING S.R.L. ANNOUNCE THE JOINT VENTURE COMPANY FOR CRUISE AND MILITARY APPLICATION IN MARINE INDUSTRY

Fincantieri S.p.A. and Nanto Protective Coating s.r.l. are pleased to announce the Joint Venture Company for the project RedFriCoat (Novel process for producing reduced friction coatings for flowing fluids over solids) for cruise and military applications in marine industry.

Research and development activities will be focused on reducing the friction of fluids and specifically water when flowing over solid surfaces by repelling the liquids from the surface. This may result in reducing the friction of ships during navigation or enhance liquids flow inside the pipelines. The basic approach is to covalently bond the functional nanoparticles to ensure the coating durability.

Nanostructured coatings open up new market opportunities in the global coatings arena. Properties such as corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance, gloss retention and other chemical and mechanical properties improve significantly using nanostructured materials. The added values will be the quality, durability, corrosion and fire protection properties.
